What is MultiversX?

MultiversX (formerly Elrond) is a highly scalable, secure, and decentralized blockchain. Adaptive State Sharding and Secure Proof of Stake (SPoS) remain the foundation. With Supernova live on mainnet, the standard is 600ms blocks and sub-second deterministic finality — without raising the validator hardware bar.

Secure Proof of Stake

Revolutionary consensus mechanism that ensures high security while maintaining energy efficiency and decentralization.

Adaptive State Sharding

Dynamic sharding architecture that scales linearly with network demand, enabling near-instant transactions.

Carbon Negative

MultiversX is one of the most environmentally friendly blockchains, offsetting more carbon than it produces.

Supernova

The protocol that now defines MultiversX — 10× faster blocks, sub-second finality, same hardware

Supernova is the MultiversX mainnet standard. Consensus is decoupled from execution: validators propose and vote at network speed, while execution runs asynchronously. The old 6-second slot is gone. 600ms blocks, deterministic finality, and a 4-core / 8GB validator floor are the spec.

600ms Blocks

Round time is 600 milliseconds — ten times faster than the previous 6-second cadence. Ten blocks in the time of one, without changing the shard layout (3 shards + metachain).

Sub-100ms Finality

Intra-shard transactions typically finalize in under 100ms. Cross-shard settlement is about 2.4 seconds, down from ~18s. Finality is deterministic once the round advances.

Consensus ≠ Execution

Blocks are proposed and voted on protocol compliance first. Execution follows in the background, so block production is no longer gated by computation speed.

Same Hardware

Minimum validator spec stays 4 CPU cores and 8 GB RAM. Faster chain, same home-validator bar — Colombia Staking still runs 48 nodes on that model.

Addresses, keys, balances, and smart contracts stay the same. Delegators do not need to migrate. Fees stay in the fraction-of-a-cent range.
